Thanksgiving

As you may know, Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday of the year! This year Jim worked on Thanksgiving(as usual) so I made dinner on Tuesday for us and a few family members. I don't have any pictures because that was the day that Reese screamed literally all afternoon and night. She had broken out in her rash that day as well. So between cooking, hosting 8 people for dinner, and comforting my screaming child, I didn't take any pictures.
On Thursday Reese and I went to my Aunt and Uncle's house in Stockton. My Grandparents and brother were there too.
My Dad and Step mom came into town on Friday.
We ate, drank, shopped, ate some more, slept, ate, went for walks, and ate again. It was wonderful!
I had bought this adorable headband for Reese but getting her to leave it on was quite the task. I just wanted one good picture, but she wasn't working with me....

She left the headband alone if I gave her a coaster to play with.

She played with my brothers old toy ambulance, Wonder why? :)

My little ham

Reese made sure to taste test all of the food, to make sure it was just right. Please don't look at me in this picture with no make up and un-brushed hair...

Turkey tastes good to me!

Yep it's good to go!

My perfectly prepared plate. I must confess I had seconds, then sandwiches later that night. YUMMMMMY

Scientopia play date

Some of the members of the Mom's group I'm a part of, took our kiddos to Scientopia. The kids loved it! It has stuff for all ages and is all indoors, so perfect for cold or rainy days.

Jayme's baby shower.

A few weeks ago I "hosted" a shower for my good friend Jayme. I say "host" because I actually just provided the space. Jackie and Jayme's mom Cindy did all of the work. Everything turned out great! I love being able to entertain at our new place.

Emy and Jayme. Such a sweet picture!

Enterovirus

Reese was FINALLY diagnosed with something today, Enterovirus. Don't get me wrong I am NOT happy that she has this. But for the last 2 weeks I have taken her to the Doctor 3 times, and the ER once. I have been telling everyone that there is something wrong with her, but kept getting brushed off.
It all started 3 weeks ago. She got this nasty cough and runny nose. I took  her to the dr and she said she had an ear infection. Gave her ammoxicillan for 10 days.
After she finished the antibiotic she was still crabby, not really wanting to eat. Very whiny. Not sleeping at night at all. And very wobbly when walking. Then on last Friday she developed this high fever of 102. I gave her tylenol and by Sat morning it was gone. She was having these awful night sweats, where when I would pick her up she would be soaking wet. So on Sunday morning I took her to the Emergency Room just to be safe.
The dr there said that there was nothing wrong with her that he could see, but maybe she had fluid on her ears that was causing her to not sleep. He even told me that we should put tubes in her ears to fix her problems. But basically he told me that it was pointless to have brought her into the ER. Nice huh?
So on Tues I took her back to her regular pediatrician, because again, there is something wrong with her, she is acting miserable. She looked at her and said that she was totally fine, and teething was the cause of her behaviour and symptoms. And as far as the not sleeping at night, we just need to sleep train her. So to just giver her tylenol or ibuprofen when she seemed like she was uncomfortable.
That night she started crying and screaming hysterically for hours, she had developed a little rash, but I thought maybe it was because she was so worked up etc. She fell asleep early and woke up a couple of times in the night. Well this morning I got her up and the rash was all over her trunk and face.
I took her straight back to the pediatricians office(since I didn't want to deal with the awful er doctor again) we saw a new doctor in the practice because our Dr is off today. She took one look at her and knew exactly what it was. She examined her and her throat is totally irritated and has little ulcers in it, which explains the pain and not wanting to eat anything. That and the rash and all of her other symptoms are textbook Enterovirus.
Now if you google that you will get awful information about polio and horrible things like that, but she assured me that is NOT what she has. Reese has Non-polio enterovirus.
Since it is a virus there is no antibiotic and it will just go away on its own after it runs its course. We can just make her comfy with benedryl and tylenol when needed. But according to the Dr she is at the end of it and should be feeling better soon.
I certainly hope so!!
I know we are all human and make mistakes, but I feel like our pediatrician dropped the ball on this one. I was just there yesterday and she totally missed this. I felt ignored, but I was not going to let this go.
But on a positive note I think we will continue to see the new dr because Reese absolutely loved her, and so did I;)
Now I feel like I can relax a little, she is almost over this, and I am now officially a germaphobe! Can't I just keep her locked in the house with pure air?? I'm only kidding(kind of)

Happy Thanksgiving all!!

Reese the Beast

I often refer to  Reese as a "beast" I don't mean it in a bad way all the time, but the child has a mind of her own. Take today for example...I put her down in her crib for a nap, she didn't really sleep much, then after her playing in there for about half an hour I went in to get her. This is how I found her
Her shirt was taken off, her pants were pulled half way down, and her socks were thrown behind the crib. The rest of the day she refused to wear a shirt. It is fall here and not that warm, so either we are going to have a very expensive Pg&E bill to keep the house warm enough for the naked baby, or we are going to just have a very cold girl. GRrr...
She also pulled out three packages of wipes. Let me clarify, she took every SINGLE wipe out one by one in THREE boxes today. So I have learned my lesson and the wipes are up on tall shelves.

"Dorothy Shoes"

When I was a little girl, I had a pair of red glitter mary jane shoes. You know like Dorothy's from the Wizard of Oz. I was OBSESSED with them. I would wear them everywhere, until they no longer fit. I'm pretty sure that I had more pairs in bigger sizes too(can a family member confirm this?)
Anyway...
Katie was Dorothy for Halloween, so I was buying the shoes for her at Target, but to my delight they had them in Reese's size too!
I think she might be obsessed too. She carries them around when she isn't wearing them, and cries if I put other shoes on her.
She just looks so stinkin cute in them!!
