Spring Cleaning

After 2 weeks of non stop rain, we are finally having some BEAUTIFUL spring weather! It has been so nice(and motivating) I was in such a slump because of the weather. So the last couple of days I have been cleaning everything. My dad is in town and I put him to work yesterday helping pull weeds, and mowing the lawn. Probably not what he was planning to do on his vacation, but oh well! I am clearing out all of the crap in our house too. I put a bunch of stuff on Craigslist today. Stuff that we have been holding on to for no reason, baby stuff. One of these days I might actually have a garage again!

Busy

It's been busy around here! Rick, Cindy, Amber, and Hannah were in town for the last week. So we had fun hanging out with them. It was fun to get to see our niece Hannah. She has changed so much since Christmas!
Katie is feeling SO SO much better! On Saturday she woke up and was happy and seemed to feel great. It is so good to see her smile and laugh again. It was a very long very quiet week with her not making any noise.
Reese is crawling all over the house. I had to order the baby gate, and an entertainment center for the living room, so I can hide all the things she isn't supposed to get into. She is trying to figure out how to stand up on her own too. I don't think it will be too much longer! Yikes! I was just going through baby clothes and it makes me sad to realize how much she has grown in such a short amount of time.
Sunday my Aunt and Uncle came over from Stockton. It was a nice and relaxing weekend, because the weather was so nasty out.
Here she is on her 7 month "birthday"

Computer is back!

I haven't been able to blog because Jim took the computer to work. But he brought it home today. I felt so lost without the computer. My phone just isn't the same. This is why I want an IPad:)
Katie is doing SO much better! This morning she woke up laughing and making all kinds of noise. She hasn't been making any sounds at all since her surgery, so even though I was tired and not wanting to be awake @4am, I was very happy to hear that. Most of the time she sleeps, could be the LARGE amounts of codeine she is on...but so far she seems to get better and better each day. I am getting used to the cast and taking care of her. I'm not as tired as I was, but Jim is home for the next 3 nights so I have some relief! Yay!
I want to say a very special thank you to all of our friends that have been bringing us dinner every night this week! Words can't tell you how much I appreciate you all. The Piner's employee "family" is something else!! It has been so nice because by the time dinner rolls around I am in no mood to cook. THANK YOU!
Caleb is really interested with the disaster in Japan. He came up with a list of items that he want to send to people, but I haven't found a single charity that will ship or accept items. All they want is money. Very disappointing, because you know not all of the money actually goes to the people! Frustrating!!
Reese's big news this week is she is crawling!! It is very funny the way she does it too. I will try and get her on video so you can see what I mean. She has had lots of fun the last couple of days playing with her cousin Hannah. I can already tell that Reese is going to be the bossy child. Ha!
Oh and Happy St. Patrick's day! We are not having corned beef and cabbage today(even though it is one of my favorite meals) I made it for dinner last week because I couldn't wait!

Katie is out of the hospital!

Katie was released from the hospital this morning! They finally got her pain under control(well as much as we can expect) and she was doing much better so we got to bring her home!
She is still in for a long couple months in the cast, but I am hoping it flies by for her. Then she will begin some pretty intense physical therapy.
Here are the couple pictures from her time in the hospital, and coming home today
Hanging out in her "spot" at home. Watching the neighbors
Keeping an eye on things

Getting dressed to come home! She was much more interested in the tv. Weird I know
The only smile I have seen so far!
2 days after surgery.
Day of surgery, right when she got into her "room" it was just a curtained off area. Still very out of it

Not happy at all. Poor girl!
And a HUGE thank you to all of our family and friends that took such GREAT care of Reese all week! It made things so much easier not having to worry about her when I was gone. And she has slept SO good all week, so obviously she has been having tons of fun:) I can't say thank you enough!!
Thank you for all of the thoughts and prayers for Katie. She is one VERY loved little girl

Surgery update

Katie had her hip surgery yesterday at Oakland Childrens Hospital. It took 5 hours, but her Dr said that as soon as she was under anesthesia and relaxed completely he was able to just put the hip right back in. But unfortunately it's not that easy. He shaved down the bone so that it would fit more comfortably in the socket. Then it was pinned into place for the next 6-8 weeks to heal. There was a lot more involved, but I will spare you all the gory details....
Lastly she was casted from her armpits then it goes all the way to her ankle on the right leg, and stops at the knee on her left leg. It doesn't sound that scary, but wait until you see the position that she is casted in. I didn't want to mess with her yesterday to take pictures of it, but when I go back for her to be discharged I will take some pictures to post. I had researched these Spica casts on the Internet before her surgery, but I feel so helpless. There is nothing that any of us can do to take her pain away. I think the most frustrating thing is that we can't explain to her what is happening. Yesterday was heartbreaking for all of us
She was sleeping a lot yesterday, but you can tell she is in lots of pain. So they are just trying to figure out the right combo of meds to make her comfy so she will rest. Jim and Abby are trading off nights, staying at the hospital, so she is very well taken care of!
She is supposed to get out of the hospital on Thursday, but obviously how she is feeling will determine that.
So keep thinking about her, it is going to be a very tough road for her to recover. Lots of physical therapy etc. And let's all hope that she is DONE with operations and pain for a LONG time

Silly girl

This girl is getting more silly everyday! She is getting such a personality I love it. Normally she just sits in the bath, but tonight she was splashing and yelling for like 10 mins. Jim is at work otherwise I would have recorded it.
She loves the laundry basket.
She loves to give the baby kisses

hangin out after her bath

Bath Chair

I can't put into words how happy I am to have had this little beauty delivered this week!!!! It's Katie's awesome new bath chair! That means no more bending over, fighting with her to give her a bath. She relaxed instantly when I put her in the seat to adjust it.
Our backs just breathed a huge sigh of relief.

It is fully adjustable and can recline and lay completely flat too. So this will be SO SO nice to have so we can wash Katie's hair while she is in her body cast.
For the first time ever I am actually excited to give Katie a bath!!
xoxo
